Alcohol at Football Games - Playoffs Canceled

June 01, 2010

There were reports (and physical evidence) that alcohol was consumed at the CYM championship football games last year.  No specific parish was named.  CYM and the St. Elizabeth Athletic Association will not tolerate the use of alcohol at sporting events (practices, games, etc...)  This is a serious matter and CYM has taken a firm position that any parish whose fans consume alcohol at or near the fields where the football teams are congregated is in jeopardy of being ejected from the league.  Further, it is St. Elizabeth's Athletic Association policy that if anyone is caught consuming alcohol, the athlete for which they are associated will no longer be allowed to participate in the program.  There are no second chances.

To further raise awareness and to demonstrate the seriousness of CYM's position on this rule, CYM has canceled all football playoffs this year.
